Humpback whale sanctuary under threat from waste
The Marine Connection are supporting our colleagues in Maui calling for an immediate stop to vessels using Maalaea Harbour, dumping human waste into the waters surrounding Maui.
This is especially critical as it is taking place within an area which has been designated a sanctuary to protect the marine life in the area, especially the humpback whales which attract thousands of visitors to the island each year. Please help us have this area designated a "no dump zone" to protect the whales and their environment.
Action Alert
Please help by writing to the following:
Sanctuary Manager, Naomi McIntosh, expressing your concern over the continued dumping of waste within the area:

Governor Linda Lingle has the ability to have the whale sanctuary declared a "no dump zone". Please email her asking her to protect this area, vital to the humpback whale population and other marine life in the area:

From our colleagues in Maui - here are a List of "Dumpers" - please write asking them to pump out rather than dump out to protect the humpback whales.
