Pygmy right whale stranding

A juvenile pygmy right whale that beached itself on the south coast of Adelaide, Australia on May 8 was eventually returned to deeper water after several attempts by rescuers.

The whale is believed to have become disoriented after being separated from its mother, local Robin Hill found the whale at and contacted emergency services. While waiting, he waded in and pushed it into deeper water, but the whale beached itself again. During the operation, the whale beached itself four to five times before it went out to sea.
