WAYN.com add their support to help Stop the Slaughter

One company which have had the greatest impact in providing support to the Marine Connection's efforts to stop the killing/take of dolphins via the drive hunts has been the travel and lifestyle social network WAYN.com (Where Are You Now?).

WAYN.com, which has over 8 million members across more than 220 countries, were inspired by Marine Connection articles published in the press bringing the issue to the attention of the general public. This resulted in the founders of WAYN.com contacting the charity to help formulate an online petition on the WAYN.com website, providing their members with a platform to share their views on the barbaric killing of dolphins.

Peter Ward, Co-Founder of WAYN.com explains: "We wanted to let our members know what was happening to help raise awareness of the issue and to provide them with a platform to voice opinion. We received an overwhelming response, over 58,000 members signing the petiton which we handed into the Japanese Ambassador alongside the Marine Connection on Japan Dolphin Day 2007. We will continue to work alongside the Marine Connection and support this campaign as we know it will really make a difference to helping put an end to these needless deaths and captures."

The Marine Connection would like to thank WAYN.com and all their members who have added their voice help put an end to the needless killing and capture of dolphins in Japan. This is an important step forward to help raise public awareness, not only to the largest annual kill of dolphins and small whales in the world, but to the involvement of the marine park industry who by paying to have their pick of dolphins from the hunts for their facilities, continue to make these drive hunts extremely profitable for the fishermen.
