You can help the Marine Connection make a difference for the UK's dolphins, whales and porpoises!

We urge you to write to the Government expressing your support for the white paper, but highlighting the need to see the various elements of it, including Marine Conservation Zones (MCZ) translated into legislation in the 2007/08 parliamentary session. Most importantly we ask that you request to see a draft Bill in this year's Queen's Speech. Please write to Minister, Jonathan Shaw MP expressing your views. Your letter need not be long and will have more impact if you personalise it with your own views, therefore include why you care about the marine environment, that the Marine Bill is a once in a lifetime opportunity to improve how our seas are protected and managed and that the Government should show its' committment to this Bill by including it in the Queen's Speech 2007. Your voice really does count!

Marine Connection are calling for comprehensive legislation to achieve better protection for marine wildlife and effective management of our seas. Wide ranging reform is needed which not only considers the small creatures such as the starfish and anemones but also the dolphins, whales and porpoises, at the top of the food chain. In order to truly protect these marine mammals, we need to take an ecosystem based approach, considering not only the habitat in which they live but the complex food web on which they depend.

Only by protecting our biodiversity NOW can we help prevent the spiralling decline of life in our seas and oceans.
