Aiming to protect which dolphins?

Year of the Dolphin states that its aims are to protect wild not captive dolphins. However we very much feel that the capture and trade of animals for the captivity industry IS a major threat to wild dolphins.

This industry is sustained by demand created by tour operators such as TUI who continue to sell excursions to many facilities including Ocean World Adventure Park in Dominican Republic which in 2006 ordered 12 dolphins from the Taiji dolphin drive hunts, a brutal dolphin slaughter undertaken annually in Japan and sustained by the high prices obtained for live dolphins. The importation was only stopped due to international pressure and the Presidents' decision not to allow the import to proceed.

TUI incorporates several tour operators across Europe including Thomson Holidays, Portland Direct and First Choice and continue to sell excursions to their customers to many facilities which hold wild caught dolphins.

Take Action - how you can help!

Write a letter to the Chairman, Dr Michael Frenzel asking why World of TUI are still comfortably profiting from captive dolphin facilities whilst also claiming to protect them in their natural environment.
