Please bring posters, banners but most importantly every person is asked to bring a a red flower to lay at the Embassy to represent the blood of dolphins slaughtered by Japan.

Our colleagues at One Voice have called for a day of protest against the ongoing drive fisheries in Japan. Every year more than 20,000 dolphins are killed in Japan; some are harpooned at sea whilst others are killed in the so-called drive-fisheries; a method in which entire pods of dolphins are driven ashore and butchered in the most brutal way imaginable.

The Marine Connection are members of a coalition of groups worldwide who are supporting this day of protest. We are asking our supporters and members of the public to come along on 8 October to join the gathering outside the Japanese Embassy in London to demand a stop to these killings.

Please collect signatures from your friends and family by printing off the Marine Connection Petition to help Stop Dolphin Drive Fisheries in Japan. These "dolphins" will then be presented by the charity to the Japanese Ambassador asking for a stop to these killings.

Read more about the Dolphin Drive Fisheries and their connection to the captivity industry and why you should join the Marine Connection to help support the international day of protest on 8 October in London.

Watch an interview with Ric O'Barry containing footage of the Japanese Dolphin Drives on the popular Dutch tv programme Nova (choose Windows or Real to play). We urge you please if you can, take a few minutes to watch this, even if you do not speak Dutch the footage speaks for itself. After watching this we are sure you will understand why we feel you should not support keeping dolphins in captivity.

* PLEASE NOTE : this video clip contains footage of dolphin cruelty and suffering and may not be suitable for younger children.
