AeroDream - no dream for some

"As director of a charity concerned with the welfare of marine mammals, I was concerned to read of plans being put forward to you by a French consortium to include a theme park housing an aquarium at the Mirabel terminal. Apart from our obvious concern over where the animals will be sourced from, are our worries for their welfare. How do we know that the promoters can take care of ocean life, we do not have that assurance. Furthermore, it seems the same promoters made a similar offer to Niagara Falls (the American side) 7 years ago, and left with their money, leaving a huge crater downtown. In view of this, we sincerely hope for the welfare of any animals proposed to be housed there and also for the local community who may suffer the same fate as the aborted plans some years ago on the US side, you will not allow these plans to proceed. At the press conference held on February 21, the promoter of the project, Mr. Gilles Assouline, president of I.parks, stated that there will be no mammals at the Dreamport Aquarium."
