Poignant 'Saving Luna' movie wins prestigious awards

The Marine Connection is delighted to announce that our colleagues Suzanne Chisholm and Mike Parfitt who very kindly gave us a pre-release clip of their 'Saving Luna' movie for inclusion at the Marine Connection ECS conference workshop on solitary cetaceans earlier this year, have won 3 prestigious awards for their movie.

'Saving Luna' covers the story of a young orca; the ensuring public and authorities reaction and concerns for the orca's welfare. The movie was awarded two 'Panda Awards' at the Wildscreen Film Festival, Brisol UK - one for Best Script and another for Best People and Animals and was presented by long term Marine Connection supporter, Joanna Lumley.

The Wildscreen win came just days after Saving Luna was awarded the prestigious Black Pearl Audience Choice award at the Middle East International Film Festival in Abu Dhabi.

The Marine Connection are delighed to have the opportunity to continue our work on solitary cetaceans with Mike & Suzanne in the future and are hopeful for a UK release soon, in the meantime 'Saving Luna' is being released in theatres in Canada from 5 December 2008. and want to give our heartfelt and warmest contratulations to Suzanne & Mike for their tireless efforts to bring Luna's story into the public arena.
