| Further dolphin captures in the Solomon Islands
The Marine Connection has received reports that 12 dolphins have recently been captured from the wild in the Solomon Islands and are currently held in sea pens.
These latest captures have not been carried out by Chris Porter, the man responsible for previous captures of wild dolphins, but by a different operator. It would appear therefore that our concerns that Mr Porter has opened the floodgates for companies to capture dolphins from Solomon Islands waters may prove true, and the effect on the local wild population could be devastating if the government allow captures to escalate.
It is not known where these latest dolphins are destined for, however one potential destination could be a new resort being developed in Singapore.
