Help put a stop to dolphin captures and trafficking

In the ongoing campaign to stop the trafficking and capture of wild dolphins for marine parks and swim with dolphin programmes from places such as the Solomon Islands and Japan, the Marine Connection form part of a working group working to address the issue.

We would like to congratulate and express our wholehearted support for the latest advertisement sponsored by our colleagues at Humane Society International and the Save Japan Dolphins Coalition to alert the public to the fact that by simply purchasing a ticket for a dolphin/whale show or swim with dolphin session they are unknowingly supporting the continued killing and capture of thousands of dolphins around the world annually.

The image on the left which is featured on the advert, shows dead dolphins found on a rubbish dump in the Solomon Islands near the sea pens where other dolphins captured for sale overseas were held. This is a stark reminder of just how dolphins are sourced for this trade, and proof that not all survive capture. Please click here to view the ad in full.

Take action

Singapore is the latest country to show interest in purchasing wild caught dolphins from the Solomon Islands. Please email the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, urging him not to accept dolphins taken from the wild whose capture is extremely traumatic and sometimes fatal.

Explain that by accepting wild caught dolphins Singapore would be seen internationally as a country which condones cruelty and captures which could endanger wild populations of dolphins – a fact which would damage the country’s reputation and international image in the eyes of both tourists and potential business investors.

With your help we can stop the atrocity of wild dolphin captures and trade - so please email today!
