Seventh dolphin dies at Curacao facility

Nemo, a six year old bottlenose dolphin at the Curacao Dolphin Therapy Centre died after contracting a small wound on his navel which subsequently became infected, and despite appearing to recover after being treated with antibiotics, he died of septicaemia on July 7 2008.

Both Curacao Dolphin Therapy Centre and Dolphin Academy are located at the Curacao Sea Aquarium, and Nemo was one of the four dolphins that participated in the DAT (dolphin assisted therapy) programme and had been at the facility since 2004.
