More dolphins arrive in Egypt

Four dolphins have arrived at the new Makadi Bay facility in Hurghada, Egypt from the Ukraine.

The Marine Connection has contacted CITES in Egypt and other local authorities regarding this latest import - apparently the dolphins were allowed into the country despite some incorrect paperwork being supplied.

Meanwhile plans for the other 'dolphin therapy' centre in Hurghada, which last year caused controversy by importing dolphins from the notoriously cruel drive hunts in Japan, continue. We have been advised that more imports of dolphins and sea lions are expected into Egypt shortly, we are investigating further and liaising with CITES on this matter and will update our report as soon as information becomes available.
