Busch Corporation cash in on Dubai expansion

Dubai has a growing greed for the expansion of captive dolphin facilities and it appears that despite international condemnation, the country has no plans to slow down.

It has been announced that by 2012, Busch Entertainment Corporation and Nakheel, a major Dubai real estate developer, will develop 'World of Discovery', a major theme park which will include Sea World, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens and Aquatica. Like the other SeaWorld parks the facility will include killer whales, dolphins and sea lions, whilst Discovery Cove will offer visitors the opportunity to swim with dolphins and stingrays.

'World of Discovery' will be based on The Palm Jebel Ali, the second of three man-made island developments in the Emirates, and will occupy a section of The Palm known as “the Crown,” which will be built to in the shape of a giant killer whale.

Busch Entertainment Corporation has stated they will provide all of the animals for the parks developed in Dubai, but the Marine Connection is concerned as to where the animals will be sourced from.

This will be the fifth marine park in Dubai with plans to keep cetaceans, despite the fact that these animals can be seen in their natural habitat in the waters of the Gulf.
