Former Inside Edition and American Journal TV news magazine host Nancy Glass suffered injuries in 2002 when a 500-pound bottlenose dolphin leaped, fell short, and landed on her at Nassau's Blue Lagoon Island, pushing her underwater. She suffered permanent partial hearing loss in one ear and cervical injury.
   
In June 2003 a woman sued a hotel dolphin show and swim-with in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, over a broken back she had received in a similar incident.
   
Another woman was attacked and received injuries to her foot and bruises all over her body while swimming with a dolphin in Cancun.
   
Actress Susan Sarandon was nearly killed when she was attacked by a jealous female dolphin in San Francisco in 1970s. She was holding onto a dolphin’s fin when the mammal's jealous mate suddenly lunged, taking a chunk out of her wrist.
