Two found guilty in dolphin court case

Michael Jukes and Daniel Buck, the two men accused of disturbing 'Dave' the dolphin have today (17 April 2008), been found guilty as charged. Both have been sentenced to 120 hours community service and fined £350 each plus costs.

The Marine Connection were one of the witnesses on this case and welcome the outcome in this instance. Charity director, Margaux Dodds stated; "This landmark case highlights the need to protect solitary cetaceans from harrassment and harm. This is not about stopping people getting into the water, this was about two men who acted irresponsibly and recklessly around a wild animal which is afforded a certain amount of protection under UK law, and as such they had to be held accountable for their actions."
