Concorde El Salaam Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh

When the Marine Connection was alerted to the opening of a dolphin facility at the Concorde el Salaam Hotel, in Sharm El Sheikh, upon further investigation we discovered that the dolphins had been illegally imported from Syria. The charity campaigned to have the dolphins removed and after continued pressure the authorities returned the animals to their country of origin.

Recent visits show the dolphin pool to be derelict but the charity will be keeping a close eye on this hotel - the fact that the pool is still there, even if derelict, is a particular worry.

Please contact us if you have information regarding any developments at the Concorde El Salaam Hotel.

Cleo Aqua Park, Sharm el Sheikh

The Marine Connection was concerned to discover that a dolphinarium was being planned as part of the aqua park adjacent to the Hilton Sharm Dreams Vacation Club.

However, after a year of continuous campaigning and discussion with the Hilton regarding the project we succeeded in having the plans abandoned with Hilton stating "there are no plans to house marine mammals now or in future".

The area which was to have housed the dolphins has now been replaced by a wave pool, affirming our hopes of preventing further captive dolphins in this facility.
