2008 Japan Dolphin Day

The Marine Connection is once again co-ordinating the UK section of this worldwide protest to highlight concerns over the cruel and barbaric slaughter of more than 20,000 dolphins, small whales and porpoises in Japan.

The country is responsible for the largest direct kill of dolphins in the world and it has been reported that the dolphin meat from the Taiji drive hunts which is served in Japanese schools, is highly contaminated with toxic chemicals such as mercury, methyl mercury and PCBs - all of which could pose a serious health risk, especially to children and pregnant women.

This year's protest will take place on Wednesday 3 September outside the Japanese Embassy, London W1 and we hope you will all join us there to support the call for these hunts to end.

Further details on how you can help take action will be posted on our website soon.
